SONOVA's 2018 - 2019 Season

You won't want to miss a single concert in our seventh season.

Unless otherwise noted, all SONOVA Subscription Series concerts listed below take place at the George Washington Masonic Memorial Theater, 101 Callahan Drive in Alexandria, Va., just steps from the King Street metro stop on the blue and yellow metro lines.

Nothing better exemplifies "pops music" than a great movie score, and in the 2018-2019 season opener, SONOVA will perform some of the best film scores of the past 30 years. We will feature 4 masters of modern film music, each of whom has left an indelible mark on the genre. John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Howard Shore, and James Horner. Music and movie lovers of all ages will delight in this exciting concert.

A double dose of Tchaikovsky awaits audiences at our second concert of the year. We will open the evening with the classic holiday favorite "The Nutcracker Suite," and close the concert with the masterful and epic "1812 Overture."

The SONOVA Brass Quintet will thrill audiences of all ages with the power, majesty, and beauty that only a brass ensemble can bring to your holiday favorites.  In the beautiful North Lodge Hall of the Masonic Memorial, don’t miss this exciting concert sure to get you and your entire family in the holiday spirit!

Two musical juggernauts from wildly different time periods and genres collide in SONOVA's 7th Annual Gala Concert and Silent Auction. SONOVA will be joined onstage by world renowned pianist Sofya Gulyak to perform Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 1. After intermission, the orchestra will delight audiences with instrumental covers of some of the greatest songs ever written, by arguably the best rock band of all time, The Beatles. Along with the food and drinks, silent auction, and reception in the grand hall of the George Washington Masonic Memorial, this will be an event you do not want to miss!

At the James Lee Community Theater

We will finish our season with a concert full of fun and beautiful music to support a wonderful local charity. SONOVA will present the "Toy Symphony" by Leopold Mozart, a work written for orchestra and toy instruments. The concert will be free and open to the public, with the only price of admission being a new toy to be donated to Cole's Closet, and local Virginia charity that provides toys to children in hospitals.
